NCKU Research and Development Foundation (NCKURDF) was established in February 1993 with the approval of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, (Republic of China).  Donated by the faculty members, students, and alumni of National Cheng Kung University as well as the people who sponsored the research and development of science and technology, NCKURDF is a non-profit foundation.  Its objectives are to integrate human resources of academia, industry and government to apply science  and technology to industries so as to foster the economy development of this country.

Through the efforts of the chairs, CEOs, and the staff, NCKURDF has successfully integrated the human resources and research facilities of various colleges and universities.  It tries to get (the financial) support from the governmental agencies and the private sectors to promote the scientific research and development.  It has contributed a lot to offer technical services to the concerned industries and governmental agencies.
